Powertrain Engineering Skövde

Powertrain Engineering Skövde is organized within Volvo Car Manufacturing & Logistics and is responsible for the engine and component production in Europe. Volvo Car Group has two engine factories, one in Skövde, Sweden and one in Zhangjiakou, China.

About 2 000 people work in Sweden and about 850 people in China plant. Volvo Cars’ engine factory in Skövde, has become the company’s first climate-neutral manufacturing plant, having switched to renewable heating as of 1 January 2018. The engine plant in Skövde has a long tradition of manufacturing, already in 1868 John G Grönvall based a foundry and mechanical workshop in Skövde. In 1927 Volvo delivered the first car with an engine from Skövde.
